Outstanding Support By Arlington-Fairfax Elks Members for our Veterans/Military

Whenever a call is put out to our 2188 Lodge members for support for our Veterans and Military, our members immediately provide support above and beyond. This was truly the case in March when our Veterans Committee put out a call for cleaning supplies and snacks to support The Old Guard that guards the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The donations were so overwhelming in numbers that a large SUV with the seats down was needed to transport everything to the Tomb soldiers. Thank you to all who donated! You are amazing!! A special “thank you” also to our brother lodge in Woodbridge. They gave a large donation for the cause too. Elks Care Elks Share!
And as always, our lodge made our delivery of hearty, frozen food to the USO at Reagan National Airport and the Ft Myer USO (Joint Base Myer/Henderson Hall). This food delivery is made approximately every 3 weeks. This provides the Reagan Airport USO visitors food and snacks to help make their flight experience just a little better. At Ft Myer, the soldiers visiting the USO facility have a chance to get a frozen pizza or a breakfast sandwich, etc. that they can easily microwave for a hot snack/meal while visiting fellow soldiers, playing video games or just enjoying some quiet time.
Although each USO facility has a monthly budget, it is never sufficient to provide the extras for all their visitors. As a matter of fact, Ft Myer had over 73,000 visitor sign-ins last year. Wow! That’s why our Lodge’s support is essential. Thank you all again for helping to make that happen!
