Subject: Hampton VA Medical Center - Patient Country Fair
SE District Elk Lodges,
The Patient Country Fair at the Hampton VA Medical Center is coming up in May. This is a great opportunity for members of your lodge to interact with up to 700 Veterans. The event is held outside on the grounds of the Hampton VA Hospital.
Last year, we were lucky and it was a beautiful day!
The date this year is Wednesday, May 12th (rain date Thursday, May 13th).
You need to have your paperwork in by April 15th if you're going to participate. Generally, you sponsor a game booth and the Veterans come around and play the game and "win" prizes. You can either bring your own game or the hospital will provide one for you.
You decorate your booth in a red, white & blue theme. The suggested prizes are quarters or "comfort items" (see attached literature). If you choose to serve food (which I do not recommend due to very strict rules), see attached literature for directions. I do encourage every Lodge to participate. If you need help with funding for this event, please let me know. There is money available in the VAVS account for this event.
I have attached all the paperwork you need for this event.
Remember that the commitment form needs to be mailed to the hospital by April 15th.
